Support our 25km walk for sick kids
On Sunday 24 March, we'll be walking 25km to help fund nights of accommodation for kids like Archie who was in a critical condition with Strep A Septic Shock.
In August 2023, Archie had a cough and a rash so his parents took him to the doctor who sent them to Canberra hospital as a precaution. The hospital reassured them that it was just a common cold and to treat with Panadol. The next day, his breathing changed so his parents took him straight back to emergency. Archie had developed severe pneumonia and was going into septic shock with multiple organ failure. They quickly arranged a helicopter to transfer Archie to Sydney Children’s Hospital.
His parents had to drive, not knowing if they would ever see their son alive again... Archie's mum was also 29 weeks pregnant at this point.
Archie was in ICU for three weeks spent 2.5 months on the ward while he went through rehabilitation. He had to relearn how to do everything - eat, drink, talk and walk.
On average, it costs $160 per night to support a sick child and their family. Archie's family stayed 87 nights. Please support our 25km walk to keep other families together as they face the most difficult journey of their lives.
