We were living at Ronald McDonald House Randwick last year for Walk Me Home 2025.

The 2,500 walkers made the day inspirational and loads of fun, despite the extreme weather on the day.

Layla, Anya, Lillia, and I waited at the finish line to cheer everyone on as they returned ‘Home’. We had pom poms, bubbles, face painting, and many wonderful photos with friends who walked the 25km.

These glimmers of joy during some of the hardest days are why the House was so special to us. Layla loved getting involved in everything the House had to offer, and these are the very special memories we now hold on to after she has passed.

Every dollar donated to the House (no matter how large) makes a difference. Please support our team for the walk, so we give back to the charity that has given us so much.

Walking for Layla - Eternally Twelve

The world implodes when your child is diagnosed with any kind of cancer. Everyone else keeps on living while your life freezes in time, or so it would have been without Ronald McDonald House Randwick.

Staying at the House was a lifeline for our family during the most difficult time of our lives. It was more than just a place to sleep, it was a place where we felt supported, understood, and never alone. It was a place that created so much unexpected joy and laughter for our family.

The House became a space of comfort and connection. The friendships we made sharing meals with other families who truly understood what we were going through brought us so much strength. We laughed and cried with families we met from Arnhem Land, Darwin, Adelaide, Vanuatu, and Fiji (to name just a few). We were united by our experience and shared understanding thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses, like you, that support Ronald McDonald House Randwick.

At the House we built a ‘family’ from friendships. It was in the simple moments over a shared dinner or a quiet cup of tea where we found hope and community.

Yes, cancer took Layla’s life in the end, but Ronald McDonald House Randwick gave Layla an incredible space to laugh, give, share, and most importantly - live!

Support my 25km walk for Layla

On Sunday 29 March, I'm walking 25km for my eldest daughter Layla, as part of the ‘One Team One Dream’ team.

Our family left our home in Canberra and lived at Ronald McDonald House in Randwick for 450 days while Layla received treatment for her aggressive brain cancer.

On average, it costs $190 to support a sick child and their family for one night, which would have been at least $85,500 for our family.

Please support my 25km walk to keep families together as they face the most difficult journey of their lives.
