Support our 25km walk for sick kids
On Sunday 29 March, we're walking 25km for seriously ill and injured children and their families.
As you may our may not know my grandson Chase was born in 18th June 2025 & seemed healthy. Two weeks later he was admitted to Westmead kids and from that time on has spent too much time admitted there to try and identify the conditions that he has. Chasey boy is now 7 months old and we are no closer to the answers. Chasey is a failure to thrive bub, almost about the size of a small 3 month old & has been diagnosed with developmental delays probably caused by his unidentified medical conditions but most days he has a smile for his family. Chasey is the most angelic little boy and a real fighter, though some days are harder on him than others and he just sleeps. Without a doubt Chase's medical and development is harder on his family. Each week off not in hospital my daughter takes Chase to the local GP for a weigh in, visits Campbelltown hospital (their local) to see one of his dietitians and also his speech therapist. Today a hearing specialist, regularly his private paediatrician at Epping, visits to the physiotherapist, add on a gasto appointment. In addition to all those visits Chase will often pull out or vomited up his feeding tube that goes directly to his intestines. Then that adds an immediate visit to Westmead kids (only option) to have his feeding tube re inserted, the shorted visit for that was one hour, the longest i would guess 10-12 hours. Chase is soley fed via the feeding tube around the clock which has to be prepared and filled up every 4 hours plus his medications administered via the tube also. The future ahead for Chase is uncertain as Westmead Kids not his paediatricians have ever come across a case like his before. He can't be bottle/ breast fed as he aspirates/ chokes and also can stop breathing during the night. At other times he has either tachycardia or Bradycardia. So you can see Chase keeps his family on high alert 24/7. Whilst raising Chase they also have Mia nearly 5, about to stay kindy and both mum and dad each have their own businesses to run. To say life is a constant challenge is an understatement but they are doing a lot better than other family's.
Family's that live in remote areas and spend incredible time as separated a family due to their child having to be constantly in hospital and mum or dad living either beside their child's bed or at Ronald McDonald house & the other parent at home work the rest of the family & trying to work so home life kinda stays normal.
Without Ronald McDonald house those families would undergo even more stress and financial burden.
My family have not had the need to stay at Ronald McDonald house as they only live 45mins away but their services have been offered to my daughter Taylor & her hubby Tyler for their family when Chase is in hospital.
If you can spare a few dollars to support Ronald McDonald house with this fund raising walk both myself and Ronald McDonald house will be eternally grateful, every dollar counts and no one ever expects to have their child in hospital but never day never.
Kindest regards and many thanks for reading my family's journey and for any donation you are able to contribute x
